“Be the change you want to see in the world”
Here are some movies on my ‘Recommended watch list’ of random movies I have recently seen. These are not of any specific genre. These just happen to be some favourites among the lot I’ve watched in the last few weeks. Thought it might be worth a mention.
1. The Boy In The Striped [...]
Thanks to my 1 Terabyte hard drive which crashed a few weeks ago, I am now left with no idle entertainment, i.e. my huge collection of feel-good movies that I keep saved for myself and my couch is now officially gone! Murphy is adamant that he’ll mess with me as much as he [...]
“Slumdog Millionaire” has done it again! The not-so-big bollywood flick about the slum boy who made it big in the Indian version of the TV show “who wants to be a millionaire” just won 8 Oscars at the 2009 Academy Awards, including the Oscar for best picture of the year. Full List of nominees and [...]
Sunday night homecooked dinner and a group of fun buddies, Adam Sandler Comedy, “You don’t mess with the Zohan (2008)” was the cherry on top! Practically laughed till our mouths were sore, in spite of the crude sexual humor that sometimes went overboard with the ‘bit-too-vivid’ pelvic thrusts.
Directed by Dennis Dugan from a script written [...]
A bit of a sore throat and minus weather outside compelled me to be a couch potato for the afternoon and I tell you it turned out to be quite rewarding! I watched the now two year old Kenneth Branagh’s movie, Sleuth.
Sleuth, an adapted screen play from a sensational stage play in the 1970’s showed [...]
Slumdog Millionaire is the story of Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, whose life is about to change with the answer to just one question on the Indian version of the television show “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?”
As millions of people await the [...]
The average budget movie about the poor orphan who goes to “Kaun Banega Crorepati” (Indian version of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”) stole the lime light at this year’s Golden Globe Awards with four victorious awards for best drama, best director, best screenplay and best original score.
Though I haven’t seen the movie yet, I [...]
Just like the Hindi movie Chak De India I posted about recently, Amir Khan’s Taare Zameen Par was not the mainstream Bollywood movie that leaves you just with the warm fuzzy feeling after the movie. It gives you more! I watched Taare Zameen Par last night and cried myself to dehydration! [...]
This may come a bit late but I only watched the movie last night and let me tell you Chak De India has without doubt redefined the Indian Cinema and the label attached to it of being cheesy, dreamy and merely feel-good! This was one among the very few Indian movies which [...]
Being a public policy enthusiast, I tend to dab into a lot of public and social issues, especially in the Maldives. Economic development, social cohesion, climate change and advocacy against child abuse are issues I am most passionate about.
Still, I do babble quite a bit about politics in general, entertainment, social media, travel and the internet. I try not to stick to one area and you’ll find an array of humorous cartoons and random ranting about my experiences!
